Patriotism was everything during the Civil War. Both sides did their best to support their soldiers and families. These were dire times; money and supplies were in constant short supply. Women took up the call to do what they could. Keeping their men warm would require bedding and that meant making a quilt.
Star quilts were favored by many.

The class pattern is an 8-pointed star. It is easier than the variety women in the 1800’s made. Of course, this one will be machine pieced, rotary cut and best of all, the trick will be no ‘Y’ seams. It is simple, I promise!
