Deb Rowden & Barbara Brackman – CRAZY GOOD
Our guild gets the first peek at some of the quilts in our upcoming show at the Iowa Quilt Museum. We’ve collected improvisational quilts that we consider crazy good, quilts that defy convention and do it so successfully. Years ago Barbara wrote an article for Quilt Digest called “Out of Control: Quilts That Break the Rules.” It isn’t till you see those rules broken that you realize how basic they are to our concepts of what a quilt should be. Come hear why we’re drawn to these crazy good quilts that will be on display at IQM in Winterset, Iowa July 7 – October 4, 2020.
Barbara Brackman has belonged to the guild since the late 1970s. She writes books about quilts and has several blogs on quilts and women’s history. Two of her blogs: https://civilwarquilts.blogspot.com/ & http://barbarabrackman.blogspot.com/ She is an avid fan of the couch at the back of the room.
Deb Rowden has always loved fabric and quilts. She’s made and collected quilts for years, especially improvised quilts. Deb is happily retired from a career as a journalist, quilt book editor and writer. From 2004-2015, she edited 90 quilt books. She’s the author of five quilt books and a fifth-generation Kansas
